After investing time and money into creating your dream space, proper maintenance is essential to protect that investment and keep everything looking and functioning like new. Drawing from 33+ years of remodeling experience in Maryland, here's our comprehensive guide to maintaining your newly renovated kitchen or bathroom. Kitchen Maintenance Countertop Care by Material Granite Countertops Daily: Wipe with mild dish soap and water Weekly: Use specialized granite cleaner Annually: Reseal to maintain stain resistance Avoid: Acidic cleaners, abrasive pads, placing hot pans directly on surface Quartz Countertops Daily: Wipe with soap and water or glass cleaner Weekly: Deep clean with non-abrasive cleaner Never: No sealing needed! Avoid harsh chemicals and excessive heat For stubborn stains: Use non-abrasive cleaning paste Butcher Block/Wood Countertops Daily: Wipe clean and dry thoroughly Monthly: Apply food-safe mineral oil or wood conditioner Annually: Sand lightly and re-oil if needed Important: Clean spills immediately to prevent water damage Cabinet Care Painted Cabinets Clean with slightly damp microfiber cloth Use mild soap for grease (Murphy's Oil Soap works well) Dry immediately to prevent water marks Touch up chips or scratches promptly to prevent peeling Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive scrubbers Wood Cabinets Dust regularly with soft, dry cloth Clean with wood-specific cleaner 2-3 times per year Apply furniture polish or wood conditioner annually Control humidity (too dry or too humid can cause damage) Hardware Maintenance Tighten screws every 6 months Clean with appropriate cleaner for finish (brass, chrome, etc.) For soft-close hinges, adjust as needed to maintain function Lubricate moving parts annually with silicone spray Sink and Faucet Care Stainless Steel Sinks Rinse and dry after each use to prevent water spots Clean with baking soda paste weekly Remove scratches with stainless steel polish Avoid stee…
